We would like to welcome you to the home page of Green Spring Education Trust. We are a charitable trust with origins in Green Spring Academy Shoreditch (formerly Bethnal Green Academy) in Tower Hamlets, east London, committed to providing young people with the education and guidance they need to succeed, regardless of their ability or background.
We were established as the Bethnal Green and Shoreditch Education Trust in 2011, becoming the sponsor for Green Spring Academy Shoreditch at the time of its conversion to academy status. Since our formation, we have established a proven track record for success with the academy, building on its progress and helping cement its reputation as one of London’s most outstanding schools.
To best reflect our roots and our commitment to assisting schools and academies beyond East London, we recently changed our name to Green Spring Education Trust, creating a fresh new identity and brand in the process.
Our ongoing mission is to help develop excellence in other schools and academies, sharing the educational practices which have been so successful at Green Spring Academy Shoreditch. Through the provision of an innovative curriculum and outstanding teaching, we are passionate about ensuring the best possible outcomes for young people, maximising their potential and equipping them with the skills they need for future success.
On this website, you will be able to find out more about what we do, the schools and academies we currently sponsor, and our ambitious plans for the future.
“Students’ achievement in Key Stages 3 and 4 is remarkable. The standards they reach overall at the end of Year 11 are higher than those of other students in the country even though the majority start at the academy with attainment that is below the national average.” – Ofsted report on Bethnal Green Academy, December 2012
‘A great academy pioneering great education.’
Lord Andrew Adonis, Politician, Academic and Journalist
“The visit was truly inspiring and I am left in no doubt that your students receive the best possible education at BGA.”
Henry Gowland, Vice Principal, The Kings Academy
“I can quite honestly say that it was one of the most inspirational school visits that I can remember. You have created a truly impressive school that is clearly committed to securing the highest possible standards for all. The transformation that you have brought about is remarkable and reflects your relentless determination to pursue excellence in every aspect of the Academy’s work.”
Andy Yarrow, Regional Academies Director (London & South East), Oasis Community Learning, part of the Oasis family
“The staff genuinely cared and their passion came across, but the best thing about the school were the students. I found all of the students really keen to learn, they asked lots of questions and clearly are working to a bright future.”
